Educational objectives
• Discover an access control system.
• Create the system wiring diagram.
• Install the wiring and commission the system.
• Understand and configure an access control management unit and its peripherals.
• Integrate the management of emergency exits and fire-resistant openings.
• Create a user database and associate access profiles.
This system allows users to explore the various technologies used in commercial access control.
The control unit communicates with two control stations via an RS485 bus or a Wiegand bus. Based on a code, a Mifare badge, or a fingerprint scan, the control unit authorizes access after consulting its database.
The model was designed to allow for the wiring and commissioning of several configurations (RS485, Wiegand, or mixed cabling; cabling with no cabling, one, or two access controllers per door). It also allows users to observe the technical implications of having an emergency exit and to simulate the management of doors and windows in the event of a fire. The connection to a fire alarm control panel's contact output is simulated by a manual fire alarm trigger.
The system is configured directly from the web page embedded on the control unit and accessible on PCs, smartphones, or tablets.
Allows you to create and configure the user database governing access rights, schedules, codes and badges.
